  Since my father went back home to Bangor, I make semi anual trips to Bangor. I like to stay at the white house- it's non-cramped and offers privacy for its customers. A free continental breakfast is offered but you really have to try Dyharts (a truckers stop with some of the best food in Maine) resteraunt-I eat all my meals there! The white house is centrally located if your going to be communting in the bangor area. Rooms are comfortable and clean. May be more for the couple without children although there is a giant swimming pool. Hotel staff are appropriate and non-intrsive.

  I always stay at the White House on my way through Maine to my summer house on PEI, and I make that trip between four and six times a year. It's always clean, the staff are helpful, and they're truly pet friendly: lots of places that claim to be pet friendly only take dogs, but the White House welcomes my cat. And you can't beat the fact that Dysart's -- an amazing family-style restaurant that bakes its own bread -- is right next door. Plus, the price is right. I love the White House Inn: it's like coming home.
