We had reserved the room some weeks in advance, but when checking in I asked to inspect our room. I was given a ""your rooms not ready and if you don't want it say so cause I have plenty of travelers who want it"" I explained that I just wanted to ck it to see if the bed would be comfortible, if the room was clean, odor free , etc. I was able to ck. other rooms and found they were very clean, comfortable and recently updated. I checked in and the front desk attitude improved at that point. However, the security was lax in that the rear entrance door was propped open, and there was rarily anyone at the desk. The continel breakfast brought a waffle maker that didn't work, plain donuts that were ice cold, coffee the color of weak tea, and a loaf of a bread was brought out to replace the lack of waffles. Again, no one at the desk to talk to. On the positive side-- very clean rooms and common areas, updated decorating, we had a brand new (still had the packing paper on and wasn't plugged in yet) mini fridge and microwave.

Worst hotel experience of my life. From the open windows in the room, to the smell, to the people breaking into the neighboring room's window while we were out walking the dog, everything about this place was bad. So bad in fact that we left early and went to another Super 8 in Iowa. Beware!
