I asked to upgrade to a lake view room(Since there is no option on travel online), I was told that there was none available. I went and unloaded all of my stuff in a standard room and went back through the lobby to move my car out of the loading area. As I walked through the lobby I overheard the employee say to a guest with no reservation that a lake room was available. Go figure. I then went back up to my room and called the front desk from my cell phone, I said I was on my way to Duluth and was wondering if they had any rooms, "yes we do" I was told, "any lake view rooms" once again "yes we do" although I like the hotel and have been staying there for probably 15 years, this was very disappointing. Also a very small hot tub, only about 6 people allowed so it's a rare oppertunity to actually get in there.

Pricey, but make it worth it by asking for a lakeview room! ;We were on the 15th floor; There is a parking garage; if you park on the 4th or 5th level you have to take one elevator to the lobby to take another elevator to your room floor, it's confusing. We were there through the weekend, the elevators get very busy.

The hotel was great, I had a great room with a view of Lake Superior. I always write thank you on a note for the maid with his/her tip money and the maid here actually left a thank you note back. Not only was the room in great shape, but she gave me directions. The parking garage is a bit confusing, but other then that it's a great place to stay in Duluth.

For $* a night one would think that when the room was cleaned that they would replenish the coffee...unfortunately they didn't. Porter's restaraunt, which is the main place to eat in the hotel is only open for breakfast and lunch....dinner you're on your own...one more thing...... don't be in a hurry...they're so sloooooow you'd think you were in Georgia.... Not worth the $$

For $* a night one would think that when the room was cleaned that they would replenish the coffee...unfortunately they didn't. Porter's restaraunt, which is the main place to eat in the hotel is only open for breakfast and lunch....dinner you're on your own...one more thing...... don't be in a hurry...they're so sloooooow.... Not worth the $$
