We completed a 17 day tour of Europe in Berlin and chose a hotel close to the airport because of a very early flight on our departure date. Although the hotel was close to the airport (about a 10 minute taxi ride), it was NOT close to anything else. It was located in a largely residential area of West Berlin that looked like it had been neglected for several years. There was a large Siemens complex about a block away, so there was a large influx of people during the day, but gone by dinner. The closest U-Bahn station was a 2 1/2 block walk. The restaurants in the hotel itself were good. We ate at 2 of them on 2 separate occasions and the food was good for a reasonable price. We booked 2 rooms because we are a family of 4, and both rooms were 2 room suites. A great size, even by American standards, but we could not get rooms on the same floor because of the limited number of suites available. The pool was great, but only open until 10:00pm, not 24 hours. There is also a separate sauna room and exercise areas adjacent to the pool. Not all hotel staff spoke English, so sometimes communication was a bit more difficult, but everyone was nice and tried their best to accommodate our needs. Although we didn't have any major problems, we probably would not stay there again because of the location. It just took too long to get anywhere in the central part of Berlin.
