Truly disappointing for an Intercontinental hotel. My room and the corridors smelled like smoke or mildew. Furnishings somewhat threadbare. Walls and doors so thin that noise from corridor and outside were a big problem.

My brother in law and sister have been guests of Intercontinental for many years. This was my first experience for 3 nights. First night I slept really bad because the mattress was too soft and it was sinking on both sides like heavy guests have used it pretty often. Next morning I ask the front desk if they could either change the mattress or change room. Second night, my husband arrived first at the room and sat on the bed and there was a plywood board between the pillowtop and the mattress on his side only. We slept on the same mattress again without the board of course. Next morning my sister went to the front desk after I told her what had happened and the manager quickly told us she would change the room. I even took a photo of the plywood with my I Phone to show the manager and I asked her if that's how they solve the problem of the sinking mattress?? The manager gave me the room on the 5th floor where I and my party could enjoy breakfast on the same floor instead of eating downstairs at the restaurant. (by the way we bought the room with breakfast included). Last morning we ate on the 5th floor and there was a man sitting at the entrance of the breakfast room that didn't even smile. Coffee and hot water was luck warm and the selection of food was smaller so we all agreed the breakfast downstairs was better. I guess I just had a bad luck !

Although my wife and I stayed for only one night, it was a very pleasant experience. Check-in was fast and friendly. Room was clean and the price was great! C'mon, it's the Intercontinental! - you can't go wrong. The only negative side, if any, was that check-out time was 12:00pm but housekeeping wanted to come in our room around 9:30am ;We forgot to put the Please come back later sign out.

The hotel is very nice, rooms are spacious and clean. The location is less then desirable unless you need quick access to the airport. It is in a commercial area with limited restaurant/entertainment choices besides national chains. It is a long way to downtown or the beaches through heavy traffic. It was a good value but not the "Miami" experience most travelers will want.
