  I thought this hotel was great and I traveled with my dog (I understand pet fees). We were in town for the NHRA and this hotel was perfect. I was thankful the hotel had free laundry services as well. The little store is great too...for once we weren't at the mercy of the dreaded vending machines that never have what you want! It was very relaxing to sit at the gazeebo and have a cookout on the hotel grill. If we come back to the races next year we will definitely being staying at the Candlewood again.

• Exorbitant pet fee and horribly rude management

  This place charges $**, non-refundable, for a pet of any size. They told me that they ""deep clean"" the room for a full 24 hours if a pet stays in it (whether they actually do this would be interesting). Anyway, I totally respect hotels having stringent pet policies or forbidding pets. We are always happy to stay at Motel 6 in a pinch. But I had a problem because I made the reservation on a bad cell phone connection in the car through the 1-800 number, so I didn't realize just how much it was going to cost, and the cancellation policy was a full night's stay - so we were out $** either way. When I complained, the manager went totally nuclear on me, got very very nasty and wouldn't stop yelling at me. I yelled back (good for me!) and she waived all charges. So, thank goodness. But another customer overheard our conversation and told me I was in the right - the manager was way out of line - so hopefully she is scaring enough customers away to get in some trouble for her general meanness. Bottom line: not a nice enough place to pay that much, and I certainly don't want to be abused by anyone when I'm traveling. Coincidentally, the pet-friendly Motel 6 just 1/2 mile away was TOTALLY nice, clean and friendly!!
