It looks nice on the outside, but inside, it's not much better than a Motel 6. Our bathroom door was on backwards and wouldn't lock (or close). The hallways smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. We had to keep getting our key re-programmed since it would stop working on our door when we left. We didn't appear to get any discounts despite the fact that our area was under construction, filled with fumes, and was covered in wet plaster (with no signs that warned you of this before you put your hands on it...like I did). Neither was it really child friendly. ...

I'm actually typing this review while staying in a room at the Baymont Inn on 14th Street. I'm sitting here looking at how beautiful the room is and appreciating the excellent value this hotel gives me. The price is amazing considering every night's stay include free hot breakfast, indoor pool/hot tub, fitness room, and in-room appliances like refrigerators and microwaves. The hotel can be seen from Interstate 80 and is so close to the freeway that all I need to do is drive straight onto the on-ramp. The gas station next door provides really cheap gas, too. I am glad I chose this hotel. Everyone should reserve at this hotel. The rooms are beautiful!

While all the pictures of the hotel look bigger than they actually are, the hot tub suite we stayed in was adequate in size, clean and pretty. My husband and I stayed here for a romantic Valentines Day getaway. When we arrived at the hotel, the desk clerk showed us three different rooms and let us choose the one we liked best. We were surprized Valentines Night when we returned to our room to find rose petals spread about. We also received a bottle of wine, a rose and a balloon. It was also state wrestling week in Des Moines while we were there. Even though we heard kids in the hall during the day, we heard nothing at night. The bed was huge and so comfy. The pool area was a little cold, but the kids around didn't seem to mind. It is an older hotel, but our room was nice, cozy, and pleasant. The hotel was also a very reasonable distance from anywhere we decided to go and seemed to be pretty centrally located.
