First being from New York city I am leeary of anything that seems to good to be true. We were in Anchorage for the July the 4th and did not make a reservation until the last moment. We found a room at The Anchorage Downtown Hotel and when we read the reviews we said this small hotel can't be this good. Well they proved to me that they were this good and better. The hotel is a small budget hotel that thinks it is a 4 star, that is how they treat the guest. From the time the taxi droped us at the front door and we saw all the roses until we departed we were impressed by the hotel, the staff, the location, the service,the security, on and on. The small hotel is in an excelent location within walking to everything. The rooms are on the small size but have everything you need including fridge and microwave. We enjoyed being right on the parde route for the 4th parade and ontop of that it is directly across the street from the park where all the city outdoor activities take place,what a wonderful place. What impressed me the most was the owner,which was in a wheelchair, took such great care of the guest, calling them by name, offering coffee everytime you walked in, arranging sightseeing trips, calling taxis, telling the best places to eat and the best shopping. We travel 3-5 time a year and we stay in large hotels most of the time. We have never had such wonderful treatment from any hotel. In fact this is the first time I have ever took the time to write a review. What agreat little hotel, please, if you are in Anchorage check it out.

An excellent small economy hotel. If you don't need frills and fluff, just a nice clean, quite place, then this is for you. Just on the fringe of downtown, close to all activities and shopping. Super clean and super quite. No restaurant or bar but free parking, free internet, free breakfast, free coffee, quite clean rooms with very comfortable queen sized beds. We were here for 5 days and enjoyed each day. There is a park across the street where kids can run and play. There are countless restaurants within walking distance. Just a wonderful small hotel.

We were at one of the large chain hotels trying to stay for our weeks vaction in Anchorage. After 2 days of problems in the large chain hotel we moved to The Anchorage Downtown hotel. Whata difference!!! The Anchorage DownTown Hotel was completely different. It is a family run hotel that caters to the guest. It is super clean, very quite and safe. Free parking, internet,continental brekfast, coffee and tea maker in the room. Peace and quite for 1/2 the price of the other hotel. Wecome to Anchorage every year and we will only stay at The Anchorage Downtown Hotel from now on. if you are comming to Anchorage check out The Anchorage Downtown Hotel, you will enjoy it.

Yes; you can get a good hotel on a budget. Most of the time when you book a budget hotel you don't know what you are getting. Here you get a good clean hotel at a good price. So it does not have all the frills, that is why it is a budget hotel! What it does have is a great location, great comfortable rooms, although on the small size, free parking ( big thing these days) free internet, in room coffee, a light continetal breakfast, secured building, walkig to all downtown business, friendly staff, what more could you want out of a budget hotel. I travel all year long and always stay in budget hotels, this is by far one of the best I have ever stayed in. If you want all the frills of a 4-5 star hotel, then you must pay for them. All I need is a safe, clean, quite palce to sleep and rest, this hotel fills the bill and then some.

I was here a few months ago on business and liked the hotel so much I returned with the family for a weeks vacation. We chose to stay here because we don't need all the fluff you pay extra for at the major chain across the street. We needed a clean, safe, secure base to come and go on various day trips. This hotel is exactly what we needed. This is a basic hotel with good clean rooms, free parking, free internet, in-room coffee and morning muffins. The hotel is in an ideal location, just 5-6 blocks to the center of Anchorage Downtown but far enough away where you don't get any of the street noise, train noise,after the bar closes rowdy noise, just peace and quite. The hotel is just across the street from the Park Strip where many summer activities take place and it is just up the street from the Coastal Walking trail. If you need a bar, fancy restaurant and loud night life this is not the place (they are all within a short walk0 if you need a good rate, clean rooms, peace and quite this is the place.
