Check in took a little time because there was a line to the door. But when you got to the front it went fast at the desk. This was our first time in MGM in Detroit. We always stay at MGM Las Vegas and found this Hotel up there with Vegas standards. The room was very nice loved the bedding. The bathrooms were nice and the shower was huge. We enjoyed the coffee service in the morning. They had it set out for everyone in the living room at no charge. (they have the best coffee) The casino was nice and open not to much smoke smell. We would stay at this hotel again. Rates were higher here than the other casinos in the area but it was worth it when we got here.

The hotel's amenities, architecture, and decor are really beautiful but belied the bad service and treatment received. I was there on business for a major client who was throwing an event at the hotel/casino. It was odd that I was treated worse than the visitors who came in off the streets to play slots, especially given the amount of money my client was spending at the MGM . I was harassed and singled out in the most ridiculous of situations. Mostly, it felt as if I had stepped into the 1950s, where if your skin isn't of the correct hue you don't count. To be fair, not all of the service sucked. The problems mainly lied with the casino management and casino security. However, I wouldn't recommend having a corporate event here your money would be better appreciated elsewhere. FYI: If you do stay here better bring your own printer because their business center is an arm and a leg.

What a beautiful hotel. It?s the best casino hotel I've ever stayed in. Unlike the Vegas hotels, you can stay here without seeing the casino at all. I loved the separate large ""living room"" lobby for registered guests only. They serve free coffee in the morning and it has a lot of places to sit. Nice place to read the newspaper (which was available at no charge). The room was nothing less than awesome. The size was similar to a typical hotel room, but it was luxury head to toe. Plasma TV, comfy bed, phenomenal design - and the bathroom (with TV in the mirror) was nothing less than spectacular. Two showerheads to boot! The casino is just a short walk across the lobby and it had several dining options, including a food court area that had several options and fast service. Everyone was very friendly and professional. Finally, the spa-fitness-center-pool was so well equipped and staffed that I would have thought it was an extra cost, as it would have been in Las Vegas. The pool facility can rank up there with one of the best indoor casino pools and the locker room/spa facilities are sparkling. I?ll definitely come back!

This hotel is very contemporary and classy. The rooms are the best I've seen in the Midwest. The bathroom even has a tv embedded in the mirror! The bed is VERY comfortable. All onsite restaurants are fantastic. I stayed here for Valentines (2008), two nights the end of March (2008), and again last weekend (Oct. 2008). Tip: you may not notice but there is a light on the headboard (switch is on the top right side).
